FAQ

Questions, answered.

No. LexSteward is self-serve software, not an agency, and it’s not just marketing. It’s also your case system and your billing, in one place: intake, matters, deadlines, documents, time, and client payments. There’s no account manager, no retainer, and no contract, at a price a fraction of what agencies and per-user case software cost. (Prefer it fully handled? That’s what the done-for-you build is for.)

Your clients’ data is never used to train a model and is never retained by an AI provider. AI runs under contract in a confidential, zero-data-retention environment, scoped to your firm, with every action logged. So the AI can draft, summarize, and update without ever exposing your clients. The lead-capture calculators go further: they compute in the visitor’s browser and relay only the contact request the visitor chooses to send. A visitor’s personal information is never collected or stored. We do count anonymous, aggregated usage, the tool, the country, and the estimate range, never an individual, and only ever publish a benchmark once enough people fall into a range (k-anonymity), the way a survey reports totals.

No. Run LexSteward as your full operating system, or keep your current case software and use LexSteward alongside it. You can start with the “get found” pillar and turn on case management and billing whenever you’re ready, and when you do want to move your data over, a standard migration is free with an annual plan (larger or complex moves are quoted, from $999), and previews a dry-run (your old system is never touched; automated rollback of a committed import is on the roadmap), before anything commits.

No. The whole platform is built to run without a sales call or onboarding meeting. You set up your firm profile in a wizard and approve content from your own dashboard. Nobody from LexSteward ever needs to call you.

You do. Every page, tool, bill, and client update the AI drafts lands in your dashboard for one-click approval before it goes out. Because you’re the licensed attorney signing off on your own advertising, your approval is the bar-advertising review the rules require. Jurisdiction-aware disclaimers are built into everything.

Any practice area. SSDI, VA disability, immigration, bankruptcy, and federal tax ship with flagship calculators today, with workers’ compensation available and personal injury coming soon, and the case management, billing, and portal are built to work for any specialty. Describe your practice and LexSteward drafts your setup for your area and jurisdiction, cited to the governing rules, for you to verify before it goes live.

Per attorney, not per user — staff and matters are free. Replace your agency, your case software, and your billing tool with a single subscription that doesn’t get more expensive every time you add a paralegal. At launch, you’ll start free and pick the plan that fits.

Yes. No contracts, no lock-in. At launch you’ll start with a 14-day free trial — we take a payment method up front but charge nothing until day 14, and cancelling before then costs you nothing. Cancel whenever you like with a click. We’d rather keep you because it’s working than because you’re stuck.

Straight answer: automated backup and point-in-time recovery are designed but not running yet, so we won’t claim a safety net you don’t have. What protects you today is export — everything you put in comes out again, anytime, in open formats, with no export fee. Until the backup programme ships, export on a schedule that suits you and keep a copy under your own control. When continuous backup, immutable copies and tested restores are live, we’ll say so here.

Yes, anytime, on every plan. Export your matters, contacts, documents, and billing records whenever you like — no ticket, no exit fee. Scheduled copies delivered to your own storage arrive with the backup/DR work, which is on the roadmap. Your data is yours; there’s no lock-in.

It’s generous and sized to your plan (fair use). You’ll see a meter and a heads-up well before any limit, and we’ll help you move up if you need more — we never cut you off mid-work.

The full strength where it counts. Ward automatically matches the right model to each task: fast, efficient models handle routine work, and it escalates to our most capable models for complex reasoning, drafting, and analysis. You get top-tier AI on the work that matters, which is also what keeps everyday use affordable and included in your plan. You’re never quietly handed a lesser model for the questions that count.

Only per attorney. Every staff seat and every client login is free — you pay per lawyer, not per head. Add your whole support team and your clients’ portal logins without adding to the bill.

Before you ask

The honest objections, answered.

The questions a careful attorney asks before trusting software with their name on it.

It’s built to be. Every tool, page, and client-facing message the AI drafts lands in your dashboard for one-click approval before it’s public, so the licensed attorney (you) reviews and authorizes your own advertising, which is exactly what the rules contemplate. Jurisdiction-aware disclaimers ship on by default, and the calculators are framed as estimates, never guarantees.

Yours. The website, the calculators, and the client portal all wear your firm’s name, colors, and domain. LexSteward is the engine underneath; your clients see your firm. There’s no “powered by” stamp on your client-facing surfaces.

Each figure is computed from published government rates and the governing statute for that jurisdiction, the same engine across the live tools, with the math shown line by line. They’re honest estimates presented as a range, not a promise of any outcome, and every state’s numbers go through attorney review before that tool goes live.

The lead-capture calculators run entirely in the visitor’s browser and store no claimant data, the only thing that leaves the page is the contact request the visitor chooses to send. Inside the practice system, client data is processed under a signed BAA with zero-data-retention terms: the AI drafts and summarizes without that data ever being retained by the provider or used to train a model.

None of the usual kind. There’s no agency onboarding, no developer, and no sales call. You set up your firm profile in a short wizard, LexSteward drafts your setup for your practice area and jurisdiction, and you review and approve what goes live from your dashboard. Keep your current case system and run it in companion mode if you prefer.

The contact details the visitor entered plus the context of what they were estimating, the practice area, the tool they used, and the range they saw, handed to your intake so you can follow up fast. It arrives in your system as a new matter-in-waiting, with the originating disclaimer acknowledged, and never includes stored claimant figures the visitor didn’t send.
